Expressive Arts Therapy
Using non-traditional methods to address mental health issues can be a way to see things from a new perspective.
The act of creating can be empowering and beneficial in allowing the client themselves to recognize patterns in their life.
Expressive Arts can include:
drawing, painting, and mixed media
music and singing
movement through dance or yoga
poetry, journaling,
And any other types of creating or expressive actions.
ART/ Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a modality that uses bilateral eye movements to voluntarily replace images attached to negative life events and thought patterns.
In many cases, ART has the potential to relieve a clients of negative symptoms after only one session.
Some individuals have even referred to ART as a miracle therapy.
DBT/ Dialectical Behavior Therapy
is a modality that focuses on the idea of acceptance and change and that they can both be true at the same time.
By accepting our lives or our circumstances, we are able to develop mindfulness and problem solving skills that can be empowering, develop a better sense of self and create a more enjoyable life for ourselves and others in our lives.
